Had a working week from hell - 12 hour+ days all week - won't go into it much but definitely fell off the exercise & nutrition schedule .... & hardly had any time to pop in here so have not been ignoring you all just life/work got in the way.

well ANZAC day today- so am enjoying a nice quiet start to Saturday - plan to be in the gym this afternoon & maybe a bike ride tomorrow to get me back on track.

That sucks that ANZAC day isn't on a weekday.

personally maybe - but to play devils advocate isn't that 'white collar snobbery' what about all the people who work on the weekend ..... why shd public hols only be weekdays ?

I like the fact that the shops are closed even if it is only till 1pm - gives everyone a chance ....

Um, I didn't know a national holiday was only for office workers. Independence day and Memorial day and labor day are national holidays.

Its not , But ....

look at it this way we live in a world where we expect/demand 7-days a week ( even 247/7) service & retail industry- as a result a large proportion of the workforce out there actually work on the weekend - so why are public holidays still demanded to be only Mon- Fri ? There was a time when most of us worked Mon-Fri & the weekend was truly the end of the working week ... not any more.

Good point. But if you're expected to work any 7 days a week, then you'll just get your hours in the other days with no holiday. I'm lucky enough to have a job where I get paid holidays, but many folks don't. I'm not white collar either.

Fair point, I probably over simplified it ( its often white-collar workers I hear whining abt w/e pub hols).

many people still work a 5-6 day week but within a 7 day week .... there is no easy answer.
